On 9 February, Prime Minister Askar Mamin held a government meeting on renewable energy. In 2020, 10 wind, 1 hydro, and 12 solar power plants were built around the country producing 583 MWp. in 2021, 13 wind, 5 hydro, and 5 solar power plants will be built with a total capacity of 381 MWp. By 2050, Kazakhstan is planning to produce 50% of electricity from renewable energy sources. Since 2018 renewable energy auctions have been held in online format procuring 1.5 GWp. 172 companies from 12 countries including Germany, Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, China, UAE, Malaysia, Russia, and Kazakhstan participated in the auctions (click here).
