The British-Kazakh Society hopes that our members and friends are in good health, and coping in these difficult days. We want to alert you that the BKS continues to be active, albeit remotely, with weekly newsletters and regular webinars concerning developments in Kazakhstan and the UK. WELCOME FROM OUR CHAIRMAN
As Chairman of the British-Kazakh Society I have great pleasure in introducing you to our website. The Society was founded in 2002 to promote the best of relations between the United Kingdom and Kazakhstan.
We are honoured to have as our patron, HE Nursultan Nazarbayev, The First President of Kazakhstan. His support indicates the importance that both nations attach to the work of the British-Kazakh Society and its role in developing the bilateral relationship.
As a society with both corporate and individual members we have a full programme of events. We play an important role in highlighting trade and investment opportunities as well as promoting cooperation and understanding between government and industry at all levels. We also place great emphasis on establishing and maintaining cultural and educational exchange between our two countries.
On behalf of our Patron, our Honorary Presidents – the Ambassadors of Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom and the Society’s Council Members it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website.

Message from Rupert Goodman
DL, Chairman of BKS.
‘I am thrilled to congratulate HE Kathy Leach on her appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Kazahkstan. This week Kathy presented credentials to the President of Kazakhstan and has also joined the BKS as Honorary President. We very much look forward to working closely together to promote the bilateral relationship and wish her every success in this vital appointment.’
Message from HE Kathy Leach,
HM Ambassador to the Republic of Kazahkstan.
‘I couldn’t be more delighted and honoured to serve as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan. It means even more to take up this role as we celebrate 30 years of Kazakhstan’s independence. Over those 30 years Kazakhstan’s transformation into a Eurasian powerhouse has been extraordinary. As we look to the next thirty years, there are huge opportunities for us to seize as we undertake a green transformation of our economies, digitalise and modernise, and give our young people an education fit for the 21st century. Working closely with the British-Kazakh Society and the many brilliant companies and individuals with enthusiasm and experience in the region, I'm really looking forward to finding these opportunities for partnership. I would love to hear from BKS members - please do get in touch via the Society’.
