About the event
Panel Discussion:
It is difficult to comprehend the enormous changes Kazakhstan has been through since 1991, and its military is perhaps one of the extreme examples. Modernization of any Armed Forces is a complex process, and for Kazakhstan required fundamental changes in structures, administration, training plus in material capacities. Starting off from 1991, where its services were part of a totalitarian regime commanded from Moscow, Kazakhstan has upgraded in all respects, and is now a modern force, with an international and positive reputation for peacekeeping.
We will be joined by Colonel Bauyrzhan Nigmetullin who has been the Commandant of the Peacekeeping Training Centre of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, plus Colonel Olzhas Khussainov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence. From the UK we will host Lord Astor, a Former Minister of Defence, and Colonel Bob Stewart MP.
