Parliamentary elections held in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Rupert Goodman, Chairman of the British-Kazakh Society, and Lord Cormack were interviewed by Khabar TV following the parliamentary elections held in Kazakhstan.

Rupert Goodman stated that "turnout was very high, with over 70% of the electorate excercising their democratic right to vote. I think this really is an important step for Kazakhstan in the development of the democratic process in the country."

Lord Cormack said: "Kazakhstan is one of the few examples of a stable country with a vast territory and multi-ethnic population. I believe that these elections are another step in the development of Kazakhstan as an influential political player on the world stage."
